Candice Blain is founder and managing attorney of the law firm Blain LLC.
She is an expert in property and casualty insurance, cyber abuse laws, and civil rights issues.
She is also a sexual assault survivor.
When she was a 19-year old college student, Ms. Blain was followed home by a stranger and beaten in an attempted rape. Her injuries left her hospitalized for days.
The perpetrator was never found.
In 2016, after spending a decade working for some of the nation’s top firms, Ms. Blain founded Atlanta law firm Blain LLC.
In representing clients of the firm, Ms. Blain applies knowledge from her experience as a lawyer – and a passion that can only come from having lived through it and survived.
Candice Blain is an insurance expert and expert in cyber harassment and cyberbullying; as well as gender-related civil rights, such as discrimination and sexual harassment laws. She is a trial attorney with proven expertise in developing and implementing successful litigation and settlement strategies.
Candice is a graduate of Spelman College and the University of Georgia School of Law.
Excerpt – My Story:
One day after walking home from a train station on a bright summer afternoon in late June, I could hear birds chirping and kids laughing outside, while inside I saw my own blood smearing on a hallway wall as I struggled to keep a stranger from dragging me into a bedroom.
It’s strange now to tell the story the way it actually happened. To tell what actually happened to me when I was just a 19 year old college student.
For years, when I would tell the story—that is, if I told it—I would talk about what happened as though it were a comedy. I did not want to make my listener uncomfortable.
So I would tell it as a joke.
Either that, or I would tell it as if it were just this thing that had happened. Like, “One time, at band camp…” It felt easier that way: here, I’m telling you, but nobody had to feel bad in the process.
